About

American FlagSuperMax Tools is the only US manufacturer offering patented features on their drum sanders.

The name SuperMax Tools may be new to you, but the company has been making drum and brush sanders for over 20 years. Formerly made under the Performax brand name, SuperMax Tools offers the only US manufactured drum and brush sanders with patented features setting it apart in a tool category crowded with import machines.

Located in Eagan, Minnesota (suburb of St. Paul / Minneapolis), SuperMax Tools began in June of 2005 after purchasing the rights to manufacture the closed-end sanders (larger than 24”) from the WMH Tool Group. Two former Performax employees, Warren Weber and Bill Schroeder, started SuperMax Tools believing there were better ways to make sanding machines.

SuperMax Tools offers nine models of drum and brush sanders to include the 110V single drum sander ShopPro 25”, the 220V single drum sander 25”and 37”, double drum sander 25”, 37”, and duel drum sander 50”, including the 24”, 36” and our new 49” SuperBrush brush sanders. All 220V machines come standard with a 5 HP main motor (7-1/2 HP on the 50”drum sander model) available in either single or three phase power. The conveyor table offers infinitely variable speeds from 0 to 15 ft. per minute.

Minimum lengths are 2-1/4” for a single drum machines and 3-1/2” for a machine with two drums. Maximum thickness is 4” for the Shop Pro 25 with 6” thickness capacity for the 220V 25” machines, and 12” for the 37” and 50” models. Minimum thickness is 1/32” and the thickness control is fine enough to only remove the ink from a printed page. The machines are shipped fully assembled. Machine pricing starts at $1999. Accessories and abrasives are also available.

There are many benefits to owning a SuperMax sander.

Two patented features set the SuperMax sanders apart from the competition. “SandSmart” is an auto regulating feature on the conveyor drive that will automatically sense the amp draw on the main motor and slow down the conveyor speed should any high spots or over-feeding of the wood be present. This feature will not only save your abrasive sanding strip from destruction, but may save your wood as well.

The other patented feature is the fastening system for the abrasives strips. The “take-up fastener” will actually pull the abrasive into the self-cooling aluminum drum as the abrasive strip stretches during use.

Changing grit sizes is a quick and easy task when using a SuperMax.

SuperMax also stocks replacement parts for all the
